I find the creative process to be interesting, and at times, illusive. As I mentioned in my previous post, last month I had the good fortune to be the event photographer for the Soundwaves Music Festival in Lincoln City, Oregon. Photographing the performances was exciting and challenging. I will discuss those in the future.

Today's post is about the rehearsals. Watching world-class musicians come together from all over the country, indeed the world, and work together to produce masterpieces of music was an extraordinary experience. Words such as passion, energetic, focused and intensity really just scrape the surface of what happens. The obvious respect the musicians show for each other, and the ease with which they communicate their interpretation of the compositions is a great model for anyone studying the exchange of complex and abstract ideas.

My challenge was to create a visual story of the rehearsal process. These five photographs are a sample of that effort.
